Jay Weinberg best known for his explosive decade-long run with SLIPKNOT, is finally stepping into the spotlight with a long-gestating solo project that promises to reveal an entirely new creative side of the powerhouse drummer. 🎧 Not Just a Drummer: Jay Weinberg Plays Everything on This Record

Weinberg describes the project as a “solo album” — but not in the traditional sense. He’s playing all the instruments himself, from drums to guitars, bass, and keyboards. The only outside contributions come in the form of vocals, where he’s collaborating with multiple guest singers, including longtime friends and musical inspirations.

“It’s not just me. I’m collaborating with many different vocalists who I’ve been inspired by,” he says. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do — write a song and say, ‘Hey, this would be perfect for you.’”

🛠️ A Labor of Love That Spans More Than a Decade

Some of the music dates all the way back to 2011. With his commitments to SLIPKNOT at the time, Weinberg shelved the material — but never let it go. Now, with creative freedom and renewed drive, he’s fully in control of every detail, even the album artwork, which he’s painting himself.

“It’s been slow goings,” he admits, “but I’m very proud of it. I made a deal with myself to release this stuff starting this fall.”

Fans will get their first taste at Colorado’s Field Of Vision Festival in August, where Weinberg is set to debut some of the material in collaboration with Argus, his longtime friend and creative partner.

🔊 A Sound That Breaks Genre Boundaries

The solo material marks a sonic departure from Weinberg’s work with SLIPKNOT. He cites influences like Neurosis, Interpol, and My Bloody Valentine — suggesting a moody, textured sound that leans more experimental than metal.

“These influences show their face in this music more than anything I’ve done before,” he says. “It’s thrilling to finally bring this side of myself to life.”

🧠 From Trauma to Transformation: Life After SLIPKNOT

While fans are eager for details about his surprise firing from SLIPKNOT in late 2023, Weinberg is taking a thoughtful, introspective approach. Speaking on the One Life One Chance podcast in July 2024, he emphasized the importance of processing his experience privately before speaking publicly.

“I’ve spent time — and still spend time — just processing the entire experience. I have a fantastic therapist who helps me,” he said. “There’s definitely a time I’ll speak to my lived experience… just not quite yet.”

Weinberg was blindsided by the phone call that ended his SLIPKNOT tenure, a fact he shared with fans on Instagram shortly after the band announced his departure.

🤘 A New Chapter with Suicidal Tendencies

Since departing SLIPKNOT, Weinberg hasn’t slowed down. He’s now the drummer for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, playing alongside Mike Muir, Dean Pleasants, Ben Weinman (ex-Dillinger Escape Plan), and Tye Trujillo (son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo). He played his first show with the band in March 2023 in Osaka, Japan.

He’s also a member of INFECTIOUS GROOVES, the funk-metal supergroup started by Muir and Robert Trujillo.

🔥 Why Jay Weinberg’s Solo Project Matters

Jay’s upcoming solo album isn’t just a side project — it’s a creative rebirth. For a drummer who spent the last 10 years behind the mask and chaos of SLIPKNOT, this record is his most personal, vulnerable, and unfiltered artistic statement to date.

🎯 Expected release: Fall 2025 (subject to change)
🎸 First live preview: Field Of Vision Festival, August 2025
