Beyoncé Earns 2025 Emmy Nomination Alongside Hollywood Legends Emmanuel Lubezki and Nicholas Britell

Beyoncé has received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for her dynamic Netflix special “Beyoncé Bowl.” The concert event earned four Creative Arts Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live). This recognition places Beyoncé among some of the industry’s most respected creators.
Joining her in the spotlight are a few Oscar heavyweights:
- 🎬 Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki and Bruno Delbonnel earned nominations for their stunning cinematography on Apple TV+’s Disclaimer.
- 🎼 Nicholas Britell was recognized for his composition “We Are the Ghor (Planetary Anthem)” from Disney+’s Andor.
🎥 Cinematography Takes Center Stage
This year, Emmy voters praised several creators who embraced the one-shot filming trend.
- On Netflix’s Adolescence, each episode was shot in one continuous take. Cinematographer Matthew Lewis collaborated with director Philip Barantini to bring this intense drama to life.
- In The Studio episode “The Oner,” Adam Newport-Berra followed Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg through scenes using just an iPhone and a marked-up script. This helped map out beats before filming.
👗 Fashion, Sets, and Design Shine
John Glaser, Bridgerton’s costume designer, was nominated for Outstanding Period Costumes. He shifted Lady Penelope’s wardrobe into a later Regency style. As a result, viewers saw her transformation from a follower to a confident woman in control of her image.
Over on Severance, Jeremy Hindle earned a nomination for his ambitious production design. He hiked through New York’s state parks to find the right locations for episode 4, “Woe’s Hollow,” which features an emotional waterfall scene.

Several major stars were nominated for their voice performances:
- 🎙️ Julie Andrews returned as the elegant voice of Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton
- 🎤 Maya Rudolph was nominated again for her role as Connie the Hormone Monstress in Big Mouth
- 🧭 Barack Obama earned a nod for narrating Our Oceans, competing against David Attenborough, Idris Elba, Tom Hanks, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge
